Preparing Your Home for Pest Control
This guide is designed to help you prepare for your pest control service and understand what to expect after treatment. A small amount of preparation helps us work safely and ensures the best possible result β helping us to help you!
For Optimal Results β Before Your Pest Control Service
Please complete the following checklist prior to your appointment where possible.
β Property is in a reasonable state of general cleanliness
β Floors vacuumed and mopped prior to treatment (do not mop afterwards)
β Rubbish removed from the property
β Clothing removed from clotheslines
β External walls reasonably clear of stored items and furniture
β Clear and safe access provided to the roof void (where applicable)
β All windows and external doors closed and remain closed until treatment is dry
β Bench tops and tables cleared of food items and utensils
β Surfaces wiped down prior to treatment
β Food items covered or stored away
β Pet toys, food bowls, water bowls and bedding removed from treated areas
β Pets secured or removed from the property during treatment
β Fish tanks and bird cages covered if unable to relocate
β Childrenβs toys and clothing picked up and stored away from treated areas
β Children under 1 year of age and anyone pregnant kept out of treated areas until fully dry
β Furniture and stored items moved slightly away from walls and skirting boards where possible
β Extension leads, power boards and loose electrical items moved away from wall edges where possible
When a Property Is Not Fully Prepared
If preparation is incomplete, certain areas may not be safely or effectively treated. Where safe to do so, we will do our absolute best to treat everywhere we can; however, effectiveness may be reduced in inaccessible areas. In these circumstances, results cannot be fully warranted.
After Your Pest Control Treatment
Post-Treatment Care
-
Do not mop or vacuum treated areas for a minimum of 48 hours β a great reason to leave the mopping alone for at least a week!
-
Keep windows and external doors closed until treated areas are fully dry β usually within an hour or two, depending on the weather.
-
Allow treated surfaces to dry naturally. Turning on fans is okay.
-
Clean gutters and drains regularly.
-
Clean up food and liquid spills promptly.
-
Keep food covered and stored in airtight containers.
-
Regularly clean under fridges, dishwashers, ovens, washing machines and dryers.
-
Keep garbage in sealed bins and remove it regularly β these are banquets for bugs!
-
Maintain lawns, gardens and external areas.
-
Resume vacuuming after the advised period.
Important Information & Expectations
-
Pest control treatments do not instantly eradicate cockroaches, ants or webbing spiders.
-
It is normal to see increased pest activity or dying pests for up to 14 days after treatment β this is a good sign!
-
Treatments work when pests contact treated surfaces β we want them to walk around on those treated surfaces.
-
It can take 7β10 days for the treatment to reach full effectiveness, so expect to see dead or dying bugs during this time.
-
Pest control treatments do not prevent pests from entering a property β itβs still Australia, with all our wonderful wildlife!
-
General pest treatments are not effective against huntsman spiders or other non-webbing spiders β but they are great at eating other bugs, which is a little extra pest control!
-
Redecorating, new flooring and renovations can compromise the pest treatment barrier, so please consider re-treatment after these activities.
